Prof. Gary R. Goldstein retired from his private practice in Manhattan and his teaching career at New York University (NYU), where he was awarded Professor Emeritus Status. NYU established The Gary Goldstein Award for Excellence, given each year to the graduate student who demonstrated excellence in prosthodontics. He remains actively involved in dental and environmental research, publishing, and consulting. Dr. Goldstein is Past President of numerous dental organizations and the recipient of 11 teaching awards and 4 Distinguished Service Awards. He has over 100 peer-reviewed publications — including 2 on the Biosecurity of Water in Samoa — as well as 2 texts and 5 book chapters. He has delivered hundreds of scientific presentations nationally and internationally across 12 countries. Dr. Goldstein is a Member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon (the National Dental Honor Society), Sigma Xi – The Scientific Research Honor Society, and a Distinguished Practitioner in the National Academies of Practice, a non-profit organization founded to advise governmental bodies on the healthcare system. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Indian Prosthodontic Society, which established The Gary Goldstein Award for Excellence in Prosthodontics Teaching, awarded in perpetuity at their annual meeting in New Delhi. Prof. Goldstein served his country in the US Navy — LCDR USNR.
